Corbyn Kicked Out Of Labour

Today, the EHRC report on antisemitism in the Labour Party was finally released, and it delivered a damning indictment of the party, finding it to have broken equalities law. Further to this the Labour leader, Sir Keir Starmer, held a press conference pledging to implement every recommendation made by the report.

Jeremy Corbyn released his own response via his social media, and controversially claimed that:

'...the scale of the problem [antisemitism] was also dramatically overstated for political reasons by our opponents inside and outside the party, as well as by much of the media...]

This suggestion by Mr. Corbyn that the claims found to be accurate by today's report were in some way exaggerated have led him to both having the whip removed, and being suspended from the Labour Party pending an investigation. He now sits as an independent MP.

A spokesperson for the Labour Party said that

'In light of his comments made today and failure to retract them subsequently, the Labour Party has suspended Jeremy Corbyn pending investigation. He has also had the whip removed from the parliamentary Labour Party.'

Do you think Starmer was right to suspend Corbyn for these comments? Let us know
